2018-2019 Color Trend
Interconnection
This is about the connections between human and nature, past and present, across regions or cultures.
The theme of Interconnection comes from the 2017 G20 Summit Declaration: “Shaping an Interconnected World”. The future is one in which everything is connected to everything.
Under this theme, we have chosen colors that show enthusiasm and play well with light, e.g. Outer Space Purple, and Electric Blue. Emphasis is given to special textures that can be achieved with plastics.

Background
Human and Nature, Past and Present
In ancient times, humans observed and followed the patterns with awe. This is a relationship familiar to Japanese designers, who have always been thinking about how we perceive nature as part of nature itself. This approach can be seen in works from classical zen gardens, to the recently popular teamLab installations.
Cross-cultural Collaborations
“Shaping an Interconnected World” – Declaration of 2017 G20 Summit. As the world moves towards a global age, interactions between cultures are becoming more frequent. In this context, more and more brands are interested in cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural collaborations.
Breaking Out of the Comfort Zone
Interconnections of the mind are more important than physical links. While overused, “comfort zone” is a useful term for highlighting the fact that we can improve our lives by stepping out of old patterns.
